The Hopocalypse arrives on February 1, 2014. We brewed it, and we’ll pour it, but beyond that, it’s up to you to follow us to safety, taking shelter from the hop assault that our double IPA Hopocalypse, our triple IPA Hopocalypse Black Label, and our post-Black Label small beer Post-Hopocalypse will visit upon the East Bay that fateful day.
We’re hoping to add a few more details in the next week, but in the meantime, here’s the nitty-gritty for the East Bay’s biggest beer release):
The Barrel House doors will open at 10am on Feb 1st. Beer-wise, we’ll of course have all three Hopocalypse beers on tap, as well as a firkin each of the Green & Black labels (and plenty of our other outstanding beers, of course). Due to the amount of people we’re expecting, we will not be doing taster sets until later in the day.
There will be a free shuttle between San Leandro BART and the Barrel House. First shuttle will leave BART at 11am, and the last one will leave Drake’s at 6:45pm. It’ll depart about every 25 minutes. NO OPEN CONTAINERS. NO MORE EXCUSES, SAN FRANCISCANS.
We will be selling 22oz bombers, with a one-case limit on Green Label and a two-bottle limit on Black Label. The DBH will be the only place to buy Black Label.
There will be a two-growler limit on Green Label. We can not fill growlers of Black Label or Post-Hopocalypse. If you’re bringing a non-Drake’s growler, make sure they meet legal requirements. We highly recommend obscuring non-Drake’s logos before you get in line… we’ll be filling a lot of growlers that day, and the less we have to futz around with them, the quicker everyone can get their tasty, tasty beer.
We will also have a very limited supply of Green Label Brew-Rhino kegs available upon opening, though more will come out as we continue to brew more batches.
Tours will run at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. We thought about having some later ones, but it turns out it’s really hard to give a tour (or find the brewhouse) after seven hours of drinking Hopocalypse.
Fist of Flour Pizza and Fiveten Burger will be on hand to provide food, and as always, you’re welcome to bring your own food or have some delivered. DJ Toph One will be on the turntables for the afternoon, too.
And no, we won’t have Pliny the Younger.
