Sacramento Beer Week Collaborations – All the Things!

With Drake’s now setting up shop in West Sacramento at the BARN (which is awesome – check it out!) we are jumping into Sacramento Beer Week with both feet.  We’ve paired with a couple breweries around town to brew up a couple of collabs, and we’re throwing some cool events at the BARN.

Our first collab brew, Newer World, was with Flatlands, an insanely creative small brewery down in Elk Grove.  They put together an amazingly creative beer with our barrel program folks, Zack and Travis, featuring Kviek yeast, Muscat must, and a whole bunch of hops featuring Mosaic and Citra.

The next day I rode up 80 to Auburn and worked on Boss Cog Double IPA with the awesome brew team at Crooked Lane.  It’s a Double IPA, double dry-hopped to deliver high-level dank and citrus notes, with Cashmere hops leading the charge.

Both of the above beers will be featured at the first ever Riverfront IPA Rumble.  That’s right – we’re putting on an IPA fest on the banks of the Sacramento river the second Saturday of beer week, and it’s going to be a thing.  We’ve roped in some of our favourite breweries, like Humble Sea, New Glory, Russian River and Alpha Acid (and lots more!). Also, our collabs will be on tap that day, as well as some special releases from Drake’s.

Also, in honor of Sacramento Beer Week, and California Love in general, we have collaborated with our friends at Alaro Brewing to bring you From Oakland to Sactown, a hoppy pale ale that contains elements of both classic Cali pales as well as “new-school” hazy IPAs.  Two classic west coast hops – Cascade and Chinook, combine their old-school pine and citrus aromatics with modern tropical dank from Citra and Mosaics, all tied together with Simcoe. Cali ale yeast adds a dry finish, while flaked oats add a modern textured palate. Cans will be on sale exclusively at the BARN beginning on Saturday, April 27th.

Beyond brewing special beers, and putting on an IPA fest, we will be hosting a few other events at the BARN. I’m particularly excited for Brewer Royale. All in all, it looks like I’m all in for spending a great week in Sacramento and drinking all the beers. Thanks to all the Sacramento area beer lovers for being so welcoming to Drake’s. I hope to see you guys either at the BARN or out on the town.
