Headzo
Strong Ale
- 18% ABV
This is a beer only seen every two years. Headzo starts as a Strong Ale, coaxed to high ABV with a long fermentation on a high gravity wort. The beer is aged for a year in Port Barrels, and then aged an additional year in Cognac and Rye Whiskey Barrels. We end up with a beer that is 18% ABV. At this strength and age, the beer is near still, with a smooth, warm mouthfeel. The flavors of deep molasses, dark fruit, and subtle tobacco washes off the palate and lingers with a gentle warmth. Aromas are intense in burnt caramel, figs, and rich vanilla. Meant for small pours and sharing, this beer fully expresses its barrel characteristics.
