Senior Accountant
Type: Salary & Exempt
Reports to: VP, Finance and People
Rate: $85,000 to $95,000 per year
The Senior Accountant role is a critical role in our small accounting department supporting the VP of Finance and People. In this role the Senior Accountant will perform a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions, including monthly financial reports, fixed assets management, performing account reconciliations, preparing for audits, and other accounting duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly and annual close processes of department accounts while performing account analysis to ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile accounts within the general ledger. Make adjusting entries as necessary and prepare for bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of, and distribute monthly financial statements. Assist with external audits and tax return paperwork. Maintain and update fixed assets utilizing NetSuite.
- Manage and maintain fixed assets database. Verify that data is accurate. Conduct internal audits to investigate any discrepancies.
- Assist in automating and maintaining documented processes, procedures and internal controls.
- Conduct internal audits to investigate discrepancies and provide support with external audits.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting procedures by analyzing current processes and recommending changes.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance, or relevant field
- 3+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including balance sheet account reconciliations
- Experience in the manufacturing industry or craft beer industry a plus
- Experience in cost accounting or cost analysis in a manufacturing setting a plus
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP
- Excellent financial analytical skills and ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Effective and flexible communication skills
- Must be a strong team player, highly motivated and able to work under pressure during peak periods
