Barrel-Aged Beers

Advanced Oak is the proving ground for some of the most complex, eclectic, and extreme beers produced at Drake's Brewing. The variety of beers created by our Barrel Program Manager, Travis Camacho, and his staff never cease to amaze us. They age the beer in wine and spirit barrels, and also add a variety of ingredients: wine grapes, tart cherries, peaches, cocoa nibs, coffee, chilies, honey, blood orange, and more. The barrels and ingredients add new flavors and aromas to the beers, which age on average from 6 months to 2 years. For sour beer production, lactobacillus bacteria and brettanomyces yeast produce sharply tart and funky flavors. 


Bottles of our barrel-aged beers are primarily sold at Drake's Barrel House, and are released throughout the year. Draft pours can also be enjoyed at the Barrel House, Drake's Dealership, Drake's Barn, and kegs of our barrel-aged beers do pop up from time to time throughout the Bay Area, but on a limited basis.
